Oral history interview with Irvin Junck, 1978 August 1.

Irvin Junck discusses family history including his grandfather's decision to move from Germany to avoid having to serve in the armed forces; general farm operations; soil conservation and flood control; hog cholera and vaccinations; milk strikes; hard economic times during the Depression and drought years; workers flocking to California on the trains in search of work in the fields; meeting his wife, their wedding and shivaree; and square dancing and music. A large portion of the interview is devoted to a discussion about the Hinton cooperative and Junck's opinions about cooperatives in general -- finances, competition with large agribusiness, the future of cooperatives, and one tale of corruption.
